Evalution
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
There are many conventions to a title sequence and these are some of the key conventions,  introduction to the cast and crew, the Title of the film, an indication of the location, introduction to the character or character type and many more including mise-en-scene and cinematography. We applied this to our film, which is a Crime/Thriller. This then meant we had to apply the conventions of the sub-genre, which include regular action, fast paced and a hero who will defeat a villain.

It was also significant for our title sequence to have all the information needed, for example, The Director Guy Richie which is a code.  Our sound track is very mind drawing and creates suspense this complements our film because it give a sense of enigma. This is not only a convention of a thriller/crime but a sound track is also a code of a title sequence. Corresponding with the conventions of title sequences, within our one, we have shown where the film is set (London), character type (Innocent young son), and the time period (current) and information about the genre (the opening scene).

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The sequence represents Black and White males in London and the turn of tables in as we may say stereotypes this is because the white actors in our film are being portrayed as being hooligans and trouble makers and the black actors as peace makers and would rather get on with important thing, this goes against the norm stereotype of these social groups. One of the main representations in our film is the way the main character is shown. The character is shown to be a an innocent young black man being dragged in to matters he doesn’t want to be in but is left with no choice or option , unsociable and lonely through the whole sequence, which are quite serious subjects. This then sets events of the film and the chaos that could possibly follow. We managed to create an enigma at the end of our sequence to keep the viewer guess and wanting to see more. Crime/Thriller films do not normally adapt these themes however we thought it would be a good idea if we turn the tables around.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
We decided that Lionsgate would be the institution to distribute our film. We chose Lionsgate because they tend to emphasis mainly on foreign and independent films, they are possibly best known for distributing films that are controversial for the large American organisations. Consequently we felt that due to the storyline it may appeal to Lionsgate. out of the top and well known studios, in turn they have worked with actors who star in our film for example Jason Statham (Transporter 3) Tom Hardy (Warrior) Tamer Hassan (Blood Out), Ray Winstone (Tracker), and Idris Elba (Daddy's Little Girl). Therefore this shows that the actors we have chosen may have a good relationship with the studio and like the way that they work as a studio.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
Primary Target: 18-35 years old (men)
Secondary Target: 35-50 years old (men)
The target audience for our media product, Inherited Empire, will be mainstreamers who tend to be domesticated and conformist type of people. However, we recognize that our age rating is an 18 certificate, which indicates to us that we are focusing on a niche audience. This is because it is a specific audience and we need to provide content that the audience will like. The audience that we are aiming at would like action films, beer, sports and socializing. Their dislikes would be things that females would usually like such as shopping and romantic films. Also the races that our film will appeal to are black, white and mixed race as this feature in our film. The targeted viewer would not have strong beliefs in church or religion as our film may cross boundaries that may offend them. Therefore, the target audience would only go to church for a wedding or funeral. The target audience’s main occupation would be a practical job such a builder, electrician or plumber, as these typically like gangster movies, as it is there interest. However, another target would be people interested in media such as graphic designers and media technicians as they will be more obliged to go to the cinema, through their shared interest in the arts.
