Evaluation

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I have learnt a huge amount in the past months on just how much work goes on in making a film or in this case a simple Title Sequence. The most important thing for me was making sure that we came up with an idea that we would stick by and that would guarantee us security through out the project. Teamwork would be a key factor in making this a possibility because without teamwork a lot of things could go wrong as most of the important decisions where made as a group, with out the group the title sequence would not come out as well as it did. And I think that this was established from the very start with our preliminary task were by we were grouped up and asked to produce a simple scene were two people have a conversation while following the 180degree rule and adding a number of shots such as the shot reverse shot and during the filming development of the continuity sequence, I learnt how to use shot types in an attractive way. For example, using over the shoulder shot in smart ways to express the right meaning to the audience.

The first task we carried out was the research, as we had to make sure we knew exactly what title sequences were like but also the features of our chosen genre and this whole stage of development and research helped me understand how important it is to making the final piece good. This process also helped me understand the importance of a Title Sequence as I didn’t before the project and how much impact that opening 2minutes can be in terms of capturing your audience and ensuring that they know what’s going on.

The preliminary task reflected positively on our Title Sequence, as we intelligently used the many types of cinematography in skillful and exclusive ways. Editing was generally a new thing for everyone in the group however Charlie L was capable of showing us his existing familiarity. And expand it, to make the editing more smooth and realistic.

To conclude I feel I gained a vast amount from the preliminary task with information and knowledge involving research, preparing correctly for production, using the correct conventions of the media product, working as a team to create the title sequence, the use of numerous types of technologies and conclusively the making of a successful opening sequence. I have gained important skills from this project that may be helpful in the future such as the use of Photoshop and Final Cut Pro and this could furthermore improve any future projects that may arise in the area of media.
