Evalution
It was also significant for our title sequence to have all the information needed, for example, The Director Guy Richie which is a code. Our sound track is very mind drawing and creates suspense this complements our film because it give a sense of enigma. This is not only a convention of a thriller/crime but a sound track is also a code of a title sequence. Corresponding with the conventions of title sequences, within our one, we have shown where the film is set (London), character type (Innocent young son), and the time period (current) and information about the genre (the opening scene).
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The sequence represents Black and White males in London and the turn of tables in as we may say stereotypes this is because the white actors in our film are being portrayed as being hooligans and trouble makers and the black actors as peace makers and would rather get on with important thing, this goes against the norm stereotype of these social groups. One of the main representations in our film is the way the main character is shown. The character is shown to be a an innocent young black man being dragged in to matters he doesn’t want to be in but is left with no choice or option , unsociable and lonely through the whole sequence, which are quite serious subjects. This then sets events of the film and the chaos that could possibly follow. We managed to create an enigma at the end of our sequence to keep the viewer guess and wanting to see more. Crime/Thriller films do not normally adapt these themes however we thought it would be a good idea if we turn the tables around.
Who would be the audience for your media product?
Primary Target: 18-35 years old (men)
Secondary Target: 35-50 years old (men)
The target audience for our media product, Inherited Empire, will be mainstreamers who tend to be domesticated and conformist type of people. However, we recognize that our age rating is an 18 certificate, which indicates to us that we are focusing on a niche audience. This is because it is a specific audience and we need to provide content that the audience will like. The audience that we are aiming at would like action films, beer, sports and socializing. Their dislikes would be things that females would usually like such as shopping and romantic films. Also the races that our film will appeal to are black, white and mixed race as this feature in our film. The targeted viewer would not have strong beliefs in church or religion as our film may cross boundaries that may offend them. Therefore, the target audience would only go to church for a wedding or funeral. The target audience’s main occupation would be a practical job such a builder, electrician or plumber, as these typically like gangster movies, as it is there interest. However, another target would be people interested in media such as graphic designers and media technicians as they will be more obliged to go to the cinema, through their shared interest in the arts.
In what ways
does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?
There are many conventions to a title sequence and
these are some of the key conventions,
introduction to the cast and crew, the Title of the film, an indication
of the location, introduction to the character or character type and many more
including mise-en-scene and cinematography. We applied this to our film, which
is a Crime/Thriller. This then meant we had to apply the conventions of the
sub-genre, which include regular action, fast paced and a hero who will defeat
a villain. It was also significant for our title sequence to have all the information needed, for example, The Director Guy Richie which is a code. Our sound track is very mind drawing and creates suspense this complements our film because it give a sense of enigma. What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
We decided
that Lionsgate would be the institution to distribute our film. We chose Lionsgate because they tend
to emphasis mainly on foreign and independent films, they are possibly best
known for distributing films that are controversial for the large American organisations.
Consequently we felt that due to the storyline it may appeal to Lionsgate. out
of the top and well known studios, in turn they have worked with actors who
star in our film for example Jason Statham (Transporter 3) Tom Hardy (Warrior) Tamer
Hassan (Blood Out), Ray Winstone (Tracker), and Idris Elba (Daddy's Little
Girl). Therefore this shows that the actors we have chosen may have a good
relationship with the studio and like the way that they work as a studio. Who would be the audience for your media product?

Audience Research Hospital Scene
Audience Research
Hospital Scene
This
is to illustrate the audience research we carried, to identify which hospital
was fit for out title sequence, and which they would much rather prefer. As we
usually do we disgusted the hospital scene with our fellow classmates along
with other students in the sixth form, the hospital with the most response was 'St
Thomas Hospital' due to it being a night scene, the audience said it created
tension and went along the conventions of a thriller/crime scene as most crimes
and hospital scene take place in the night. Harry was recording the responses
he then went away and a produced a chart to show the results clearly.

Hospital Shoot
After
disguising the hospital scene with the class, we decided that it would be
useful to actually set the scene with a hospital shot, to make it much more clear
to audience where exactly the scene was set. Below are the pictures of the
footage we took of the two hospitals in London. Which were 'St Thomas Hospital'
and 'Chelsea and Westminster hospital' we felt it was the better decision to
have more than one hospital as there can be a choice and we can then leave it
up to the audience to choose which hospital they would like to see in our title
sequence, this in turn would be effected to our audience as they would feel
like their input is being accounted for. Its safe to say that both hospitals have
pros and cons however the both for different reasons 'St Thomas's' looks very
effective where it has been shot at night which fits perfect with our film and
it creates quite and tense atmosphere but on the other-hand 'Chelsea and
Westminster hospital' also works quite well as it includes a London taxi which
is very iconic for a British movie.

Feedback on Title Sequence
Feedback
This was the feedback we got back from the class. Most of the class thought our title sequence had potential. They all like our sound track because it set the mood of what type of film it would be. However they didn't like the fact that our title was repetitive, and suggested that we move some of the scenes early into our title sequence, for them to have an idea of whats to come next. They also suggested we added scenes to fully establish were the setting is in at the hospital.
This feed back was good because it has help us develop and further our own ideas. We look to change our title and get more feedback from the class soon.
This was the feedback we got.

Burning money Scene
Burning Money
I think that this scene was very successful, and I am happy about this as it is one of our main and establishing scenes which tell the story. And the scene its self was successfully shot the first time as we got the lighting right, the props and the right camera angles. We took we had loads of takes from the shoot however we made sure that the burning of the money was spot on as we couldn't redo the scene. We also managed to get a dramatic ending from the scene we will assess if its good enough to be the ending.
These are some images we took during the shoot.
